Sandhurst Club

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

The initial brief for our team leaders was to re-plan and transform over 300 hectares of low lying cow paddocks in Melbourne’s south east into Victoria’s premier, large scale, golf residential community project.

Once again it succeeded, beyond all expectation.

Some 15 years later, Sandhurst Club has won multiple peer group awards for excellence and was recently reported in the metropolitan press as one of Melbourne’s most elite townships.

Other than some elements of the central core, the project is now complete.

It comprises over 1,350 homes with a population rapidly approaching 5,000. It’s key features include:

  • Two championship quality 18 hole golf courses designed by Peter Thomson (5 times winner of the British Open).
  • A central core already comprising bars, bistro, function rooms, gym, indoor pool complex and tennis courts.
  • National Headquarters of the PGA of Australia.
  • Extensive man made wetlands and water bodies.
  • Over 50 kilometres of dedicated off road golf cart, bike and walking paths leading to the central core.
  • Arguably Australia’s first large scale, privately owned fibre to the home network providing cable TV, high speed internet and VOIP.
  • Australia’s first totally integrated third pipe network delivering class A recycled water to all homes, parks and the golf courses.

Like Sanctuary Lakes, a unique Club Living structure underpins the community ensuring the golf courses, parks, waterways, roads, drains and communal buildings are maintained to high standards in perpetuity. All residential property owners are compelled to join the Club and financially support it. Besides asset maintenance, the Club also delivers a range of community services to assist in engendering a true sense of community.
